In this video I install a TransGo D3 transbrake kit into my VX wagon running a 4L80E transmission, and control it through the HP Tuners CORE ECU. This wasn’t a full race build or anything fancy — just getting stuck in and figuring it out as I go. Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing half the time… but somehow it all came together and worked better than expected. The TransGo D3 transbrake kit is designed to give you proper launch control by locking the transmission in place using both forward and reverse gears at the same time. Once you release the button, it hits hard and sends the car instantly. It’s built to keep factory-style drivability while adding race functionality, with features like constant line pressure and a fast release for consistent launches. The 4L80E itself is a tough unit and a popular choice for high horsepower street and drag setups, so adding a transbrake makes it a serious weapon at the track. For control, I’m using the HP Tuners CORE ECU, which allows full standalone engine and transmission control, real-time tuning, and data logging. It’s capable of running everything from fuel and ignition to boost and launch strategies, making it perfect for this kind of setup. After getting everything installed and wired up, I give it a small test hit in the yard just to see if it works — and yeah… it definitely works.

Dylan finally took his turbo VZ Commodore to Wilby Drags for the first time. This was not only Dylan’s first time racing at Wilby, it was also the first time the car had been out since he bought it. The car is a serious setup running a 16-injector fuel system and a turbo LS combo, so this was a big day to see how everything behaved on the strip. First passes are always a mix of nerves, learning the car, we only had it on low boost. In this video we take Dylan’s boosted VZ out for its first runs since the new 16 injector manifold has been fitted, see how it performs down the strip, and start working out what the combo wants.
